Your Robot Onramp — Lydey Automation and ABB Robotics

A clear path to successful industrial robotics

Robotics can transform production, but only when it’s applied correctly. Lydey Automation helps manufacturers adopt ABB Robotics with clarity, validation, and hands-on support, reducing risk and accelerating return on investment.

This service is designed for teams that want to understand robotics before committing, choose the right solution, and move forward with confidence.

Why ABB Robotics

  • Highest Path and Pose Accuracy in Robotics
  • Fastest Cycle Time in Robotics with TrueMove and QuickMove Technology
  • Made in Auburn Hills, Michigan
  • Graphical, Easy-to-Use FlexPendant–the same for all robots
  • Next Gen OmniCore Controller — the same for all robots
  • Text-based RAPID programming language doesn’t require compiling — edit programs with Notepad if you’d like
  • Free RobotStudio software allows users to commission, code and deploy robots with free downloadable software

Our Onramp to Robotic Automation, Step-By-Step

Onsite Review

Our Robot Specialists will come in with our Demo Robot, and review your application–and may find others.

Build a Digital Twin Sim

ABB’s RobotStudio Simulation software uses the actual motion planning and kinematics engine of a robot controller to determine reach, speed and cycle time based on real world physics.

Fully Equip your Robot

We also offer End-of-Arm Tooling such as grippers and vacuum handling, Machine Safety, Sensing and Vision, and other allied automation technology to fully fit your robot.

Free Support. Free Training.

Our company offers free training in your facility, or in our Applications Lab in Toledo. We’ll train you for free in the ways of ABB robotics, and provide you with all the tools to be successful.

Work with us to Simulate your Robot Application

When you know your parameters for your robot application, we can work with you to develop a robot simulation to help you understand your application’s space, cycle time, reach and payload needs.

We use RobotStudio from ABB to simulate our customer’s robot applications. Take a tour of RobotStudio.

Use our Checklist To Get Organized

Download our Onramp to Robotics checklist. Our checklist to getting ready for your next robot appliction is a good organizational tool, and will guide you on what information to get, where to get it, and who to involve.

Onsite Review

Your first step is to meet with us, either with our conference room robot demo or without. Lydey Automation robotic specialists will ask to tour your facility and look at your robot application idea with you. We’ll have lots of questions, and will likely want to take pictures. This is laying the groundwork for our efforts later when we go to specify a robot, specify tooling if need be, and develop a simulation if needed.

Our conference room demo is an ABB robot that uses the same controller, teaching pendant and programming and commissioning environment as the robot you would get, so getting your hands on the robot right away, and getting familiar with how to jog and manipulate the robot is a good first step to getting better acquainted with the robot.”

One critical difference between the Lydey/ABB Value Proposition and all the other providers is that we make sure your robot works the way you want before you spend any money with us. That’s thanks to the RobotStudio simulation environment, part of the RobotStudio Programming Suite from ABB. The Simulation part of RobotStudio is based on the OmniCore motion planning software, so it uses the same kinematics and motion planning as an actual controller. This way you’re assured of a highly accurate simulation of real world robots, with real physics and real actions of tooling. Using the RobotStudio simulation software, we can figure out reach, payload needs, speeds and cycle times, along with preprogramming harder to create motion routines in cramped spaces or challenging patterns.

Fully Equip

Lydey Automation is a full-service automation provider, which means we can offer a lot of complimentary robotic and affiliated automation products to augment your robot. We also sell brands like: SCHUNK – SCHUNK delivers best-in-class gripping and workholding products. Parallel and Angular two and three jaw grippers to grip ounces, pounds or tons of payload, along with development services to grip specialized items using their engineering and product services to deploy your app-specific robot tool. Coval – Coval manufactures quality vacuum gripping tools and systems. They can provide vacuum cups, generators, and even specialized robot vacuum tooling for packages, boxes, cartons and so forth. Pilz Automation Safety – Pilz is recognized as a global leader in safeguarding automation. Using technologies such as safety scanners, safety radar, and a whole host of safety-rated controls, Pilz can help ensure that your robot project gets deployed safely

Free Training

A foundational pillar of our company is training – training for our people and training for our customers. Whenever we sell a robot system, we always offer and provide free training for the stakeholders who have to interact with, program and live with the robot. Our company has a standard two or three day training offering, where customers can come to our facility or we can come to yours, and we will teach you general robotics (which is brand agnostic) and ABB-specific robotics, which helps you get familiar with ABB robot programming and commissioning. We can also tailor our training to your particular needs—whether you’re fluent in robotics and just need a familiarization with the ABB world, or if you’re starting at the ground floor—we can make sure your training objectives are met first.
